CATERPILLAR 320D2 EXCAVATOR DNP Sprocket - Removal and Installation

 1. Position the machine on a suitable stand under the first roller as shown. Make sure the kingpin is above the centerline of the sprocket.

2. Detach the track. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Track - Detach".

 

  3. Remove the bolts (1) that secure the sprocket (2) to the final drive.

 

 

  4. Attach Tool (A) and a suitable lifting device to the sprocket (2) as shown. 

5. Remove the sprocket (2). The weight of the sprocket (2) is approximately 40 kg (90 lb).

 Installation Procedure

 

 

NOTE: Use several washers between Tool (A) and the sprocket (2). This will prevent damage to the sprocket.

 

 

1. Attach Tool (A) to the sprocket (2) as shown. The weight of the sprocket (2) is approximately 40 kg (90 lb). 

 

 2. Place the sprocket (2) on the final drive.

 3. Install the bolts (1). Tighten the bolts (1) in alternating order to a torque of 530 ± 70 N·m (390 ± 50 lb ft). 

 4. Remove Tooling (A). 

 5. Attach the track. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Track - Attach". 

 6. Remove the frame from the front rollers.
