These instructions show you how to remove the Caterpillar 320C Excavator Track Assembly.

1. Install Tooling (D) on the track links and sprockets as shown.
2. Start the machine. Move the sprocket forward until the track assembly is pulled over the sprocket. Move the sprocket forward until the end of the track assembly is past the vertical line through the center of the sprocket. Remove Tooling (D).
3. Install Tooling (E) between the first bushing in the track link and the shoe as shown.

4. Move the sprocket forward. Use Tooling (E) to guide the track assembly over the idlers and front idler.
5. Use a suitable lifting device to lift the front of the track assembly. Install Tooling (A) under the track shoes as shown.
6. Apply Tooling (F) to both track bushings. Install bushings in track links. Grease holds the bushing in place.
7. Apply Tooling (F) to the kingpin hole and kingpin of the track assembly.
8. Connect the ends of the track assembly. Make sure the pin holes on both ends of the rail assembly line up with each other.
9. Install Tooling (G) into the rail assembly. Make sure Tool (G) is in

NOTE: If the kingpin (2) cannot be installed with a hammer, use Tooling (C) to install
Kingpin (2). See Figure 5.

10. Install the cotter pin into the king pin. Remove Tooling (A) from the rear of the track assembly. Note: About Tool (C)

11. If the track shoes on either side of the kingpin were removed, reinstall the track shoes. Use Tooling (B) to reinstall the shoe mounting bolts.
12. Tighten the tension of the track. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Track Adjustment - Adjustment" for proper procedure.
